Skills Doctor provides a range of services for institutions and organisations (schools, colleges, universities, NGOs, businesses, and government) who want to provide training, education, or an enjoyable intellectual challenge for their students or staff.

In order to ensure that your training budget is well spent, Skills Doctor provides a service that saves you money and keeps you in control.

• All training concentrates on achieving the goals set by the organisation (a goal is achieved when the trainee can demonstrate the required level of skill).

• When trainees achieve their goals, clients are notified immediately, and either a new goal is set or training is discontinued.

• Any training budget left over can be transferred to other trainees or refunded.

• The performance of all trainees is constantly monitored.

• Adjustments can be made in response to the monitoring, to ensure that the training always reflects the needs of the trainee.

• Regular progress reports are provided for each trainee.

Skills Doctor will discuss your needs with you, and then design your course to directly address your requirements. Options include those listed below, but I can provide bespoke solutions on request.

• Ongoing skills training, individually or in groups, designed to achieve specific and measurable staff development goals. Charged by the hour or the day, depending on your requirements - see pricing for minimum rates. Discounts available for large volumes of work.

• Intensive staff development workshops last 6 hours per day for 1 or 2 days, and are designed to achieve a set of specific objectives set by the client, such as developing a certain set of skills - for example summary skills. These courses are designed for quick results, but they are tough for trainees as the pace is fast and the material is difficult. Charged by the day - rates depend on your requirements and the number of participants, but see pricing for more information.

 

• Weekly philosophy courses (10 weekly sessions of one hour) aim to provide an enjoyable and illuminating intellectual challenge. They are usually introductory courses which cover a broad range of philosophical topics. Alternatively, clients can ask for specific topics to be studied in-depth, such as artificial intelligence or ethics. Charged as a set course fee with up to 15 participants.
   

• Intellectual skills consultancy. I can spend time in your organisation and help you identify your skills needs. I can then provide training (as described above) to address any issues found. Charged by the day - please contact me to discuss your requirements.

Educational consultancy

 

I am available as an educational consultant. I provide a range of services, including those listed below. Please contact me with your requirements.

 

I can:

 

• review your curriculum and make suggestions for improvements to comply with, progress towards, or maintain international standards.

 

• create courses from scratch – or review and improve existing offerings.

 

• create and review standard documents such as assessment forms, module descriptions, and marking schemes.

 

• provide subject-specific teacher training – I can train your staff to deliver courses on Academic Skills, Reasoning Skills, Research Skills, and Philosophy. But I do not offer general teacher training as I am not qualified to do so.
